Hello from the land of the technology challenged

Sorry everyone, I have been MIA from my blog due to an unfortunate incident on Halloween!  I do think I had a pesky ghost hanging around that night, and a glass of water was spilled  on my laptop keyboard!

I had a group of kiddies waiting for treats, but I blotted and prayed and did what I could.........I actually got back on and it seemed to be OK.  I was surfing the web in "Fool's Paradise."

I expect my laptop to be returned by November 19th.  I am keeping myself connected with a new iPad Air.  I am muddling through and need to get to a class.  But it is not  the right thing for blogging.

I did get to be in the studio audience for a taping of the Rachael Ray show on Tuesday. I have a group photo but  I have  no clue how to upload it here,  Working on that, in the meantime, try to tune in this Monday, November 11th at 10 am est to see it.

We saw chef Richard Blais and actress Liv Tyler and her maternal grandma and received their book on manners and the new etiquette.  Photos forthcoming as soon as I can get to Best Buy or the Apple store (or run into a ten year old).

  1. Well, I've been missing you, Miss Barbara. I'm glad to know you're okay, even though your computer isn't. I am sorry to hear about the repairs; I know that's inconvenient, and I hope it won't be too costly.

Did you have a good turnout at your house on Halloween? We only had two groups; we live down in a cul de sac and not a lot of kids walk all the way down here. :( It was still fun though.

    Hugs to you,

    Denise at Forest Manor

  2. Oh, Barbara, I can so relate to your little laptop accident, as I spilled a cup of coffee on mine last January! I put off getting it fixed, because I thought it would cost me a bundle and it had been my fault...and then when I finally took it to be repaired, it cost less than $50.

How exciting to be in the audience for the Rachael Ray Show! Can't wait to see your photos.

And your last line about the ten year old cracked me up! :D

  3. Sympathies on the laptop…I felt lost when my computer died. I love the comment about the 10 year old…it is SO true! I will set up to DVR Rachel Ray so I can watch your episode! Do they do an audience shot? What did you wear? I'm off and on on blogging as we will be having a wedding and had the birth of our six and seventh grand babies (twins) last June and are expecting numero eight in Feb! Hope you are having fun with the iPad air I'm thinking of investing in one!
    Hugs~

  4. Well gee…I thought I put a comment on but I don't see it so here I go again. Hmmm…I do relate to the out of order laptop, when mine died it was awful. Love the comment about the 10 year old and isn't it the truth! Will DVR the Rachel Ray episode…what did you wear and are they showing an audience shot? How fun either way! I remember years ago my daughter and I went to a taping with Emeril when he came to our city…we had to get out there for 4 AM! I'm on and off with my blogging as we have had the birth of grand babies six and seven (twins) and are expecting grand baby eight in Feb. AND our only daughter is getting married in May so life is a big blur! Hugs and good to see you, so to speak, lol!

  6. Barb, I feel your pain. I have a son that has his degree in computer something or other. LOL Bryon was our computer doctor over the years. But I felt I should learn to be self sufficient on the computer (ha ha) and it can be frustrating when there is an issue. But we do learn from it. That's awesome that you were in the studio audience for a taping of the Rachael Ray show!! I hope you find that 10 year old.

  7. That's too bad about the laptop. I find doing posts difficult with the iPad. I can't add pictures or links so all I can do is edit a post already there. I mainly use mine for surfing the web and visiting blogs like I am now. I hope you get your laptop back and are happy again.

  8. Hi Barbara,
Gosh, what an ordeal with the computer. I agree about the iPad and not being able to blog. I can upload photos, but then I have to use the computer to download them to my blog. You're so right about asking a ten year old...LOL!! I look forward to seeing photos from the Rachel Ray show. xo

  9. Oh I have chuckled my way through this and not because it was a good thing that water was spilled, but because it was so amusingly told. Hope that you're back in business soon!

  14. Oh, I'm so sorry! I am pretty much a nag about anyone setting a beverage down anywhere near my laptop or desk computer. And it drives me crazy for someone to sit a glass of wine on my piano. I know they see it being done in movies but spilled liquid can sure ruin a piano. But I hope you get yours back soon. I'd love to see the t.v. show pics!
