Just a little chitchat

Today is a special date:  11-12-13.  Did you make a wish?

I am missing my lap top, which I had sent back.  I am not willing to pay $1050 for repair.  I was told that Sony parts are expensive, but really, the computer was less than half that price!  I hope to be fully back up with a new one by the weekend.

The taping of the Rachael Ray show aired on Monday, and it was fun to watch.  I saw myself three times.  They also included a segment with The Cake Boss, Buddy, but we did not actually see him.

Today it is a really gloomy, raw day, with wet snowflakes earlier but not sticking to anything.  It is supposed to be near 60 on Friday, which is good as I have a vet appointment that day.  Had to postpone the previous one due to cold weather, not good for my feathered babies.

I took a free class at the Apple store, and it was helpful.  My new iPad Air was making me crazy, but I managed to be connected with important stuff like email, my banking, and of course, Pinterest!

I am hosting Thanksgiving this year, so I started list making, timetables, etc.  I really want to be on the ball so I don't get too stressed out.

I started making some Christmas cards.  While I refuse to decorate before Thanksgiving, of course, crafting and card making must get done sooner.  I draw the line on baking cookies as well, since I don't have the freezer space.  And they would be way too tempting for me.

I am looking forward to a real post complete with photos soon.  I enjoyed such gorgeous color from the trees in my own 'back yard', but in a NY minute they were on the ground.

  7. That is unreal about your repairs being costlier than the computer was when bought! I know you will be happy when you have your new one. xo

  8. It was really nice and warm here yesterday. Today it is very cold. Tonight in the teens. You never know what you're going to get in Oklahoma. But always plenty of wind.

  9. Hi there Barbara -- it's good to hear from you!! I'll be glad for you to get your new laptop so you can blog again. :) It is cold, dreary and raw here too, at the moment. The sun was shining earlier in the day. How exciting that you were on the Rachel Ray show and you were able to see yourself!! Wow!!

Cooking Thanksgiving dinner is a job, but I know you'll pull it off and everyone will eat well and have a good day. You're right to start planning and working ahead.

    Hugs to you,

    Denise

  13. What did we do before computers? My daughter had to force me to use my first one, a loaner from her, and I was so mad. Typewriters were good enough for me, until I got hooked. Your post was still great even without pictures. We could imagine them anyway. I hope you show some of the cards you make. I have a few handmade ones that people have sent over the years and I put them out every year.

  14. I'm sure the Rachael Ray show was a blast! Frustrating about the computer... And I know what you mean about the leaves, only took one day for the trees across the street to be striped bear! Have a great week:@)

  16. Oh did you tell us that it was airing yesterday? I missed it! Blast! Not that I would have been able to find you, though I would have tried! Autumn foliage doesn't last long enough, does it?! We're mostly finished here. You'll be so happy to have your computer back! Glad that your class was so helpful!

  17. Happy to see you back. Have enjoyed the chit chat and catch up.
We are looking forward to summer here, today is a balmy 22deg Celsius, but being late spring is also still a bit unsettled so could be quite cold tomorrow.

  18. Oh Barbara, I have been MIA and I didn't realize you were going to the Rachael Ray show.
I will try to pop in to see your post about it.
Not sure what kind of computer you have but I have always used Apple Macs. They are amazing and I don't have crashes. (Knock on wood!).
    Hugs to you,
    Ginger

  19. I hope we get to see some pics of you on the Rachel Ray show! Best of luck getting the new computer, dear friend. Isn't that terrible what the cost of repairs are??!! Yikes!

  21. I hope you get your new computer soon. I have never used a laptop, but I imagine they are very convenient. I have never had the physical parts of a computer fixed yet. Whenever you buy a new computer it is outdated before you get it out of the box anyway. It does help that my computer genius son is able to help me remotely when I have software problems. On the average I have had each of my computers about 6 years. By the time they really go k-blooey I am more than ready for a new one. It is a shame over the expense of a new Laptop or computer of any kind (I want an all in one unit with at least a 30" monitor the next time I have to get one) but it is really difficult nowadays to get along without one.

  22. *Always* smart to be looking towards Christmas ... even if it's just the tiny details for now! How fun that you're hosting Thanksgiving! Yay! We are at the camp, too -- just a small crowd -- just seventeen of us. Yeow! I hope your laptop/iPad woes finally iron themselves out, sweet lady!! :)

  23. How fun you went to the rachel Ray show....she is so perky she makes me tired....it's always fun to be a part of that type of studio audience...My daughter goes all the time...She had tickets recently to see Betheny Frankel and had to work so she couldn't go....Poor Betheny's show is horrible...I give it tops another month before they cancel it...How many shows can you do on "bad relationships".....or getting butt implants...the poor girl she's sinking like the Titantic....Have a wonderful Thanksgiving....I am hosting as well but I don't think it counts since it's just four of us....we do go up to NYC for Christmas and the husband agreed to stay at the Waldorf instead of putting the daughter out of her bed...so I'm grateful for that.....as is she :)

  25. Computer problems really are the most frustrating. I swear they have a short life span so we have to keep buying them every year or two. Just like my Keurig machine LOL! You gotta have it.

  26. Oh my--I just read why you are using the iPad to blog. That repair price is ridiculous! I hope you get your new lap top soon. See if yiou can NOT get windows 8 when you do --more headaches..lol!

Have a good weekend Barbara! The days seem to be flying by here but it's happy times so I'm grateful!
