Oh where to begin?

I have been MIA for a while........took a nasty fall in my kitchen on Thanksgiving morning.  I broke a toe and dislocated two others.  My right foot, which is connected to my bad right calf and knee!  Never fails.

I also happened to be carrying my sweet birdie, Pearlie, in the cage.  Pearlie landed behind me, the cage collapsed on her and she was trapped between two sides.   I almost flipped as I thought she was crushed.   I cried out and she made a tiny squeak.  She is just fine, thank God, but me, I hobbled up, realized I was bleeding, put an ice pack for maybe 10 minutes and continued with the turkey dinner.   Company was expected at 2 PM and this crowd is right on time.  Dinner was delicious, although I ate hardly nothing that day.  I lived on leftovers for the next four days!

I got through the day with limited assistance, and it took me three days to finish the cleanup and get my place back in order.  I thought Christmas would be a complete wash, but I do have a bit of decor up, a tiny tree, my Nativity, a few wreaths.  I hand made my cards this year, and thanks to a dear friend I had Christmas stamps and another dear friend mailed them for me.  Shopping was done online, and I do believe that is the way to go.   I feel well enough to do some baking, next weekend.  I like my Christmas goodies to be as fresh as can be.  I have no room in my freezer.

I tried uploading photos but no go.  This has set me back from getting a lap top.  I wonder if anyone can explain how I can get my smartphone to talk to my iPad ?  There is an option to load photos from a phone but when I clicked only an old header of mine came up.

I am enjoying all the Christmas-ing going on in Blogland.  As for me, I am just happy that I did not need to go to the ER, no surgery, and my sweet bird was OK.  It could have been a real disaster that day.

Thanks for stopping by and for all the sweet emails.  You guys are the best.

Merry Christmas!

xo

  2. My oh my, what a nasty fall you had; glad birdie survived and so sad about your toes. Ouch. So you dared to not go to the urgent care? Be well and heal.

  3. I know what a little fall can do. I'm still icing my foot. Grateful that Pearlie wasn't hurt and prayers for a quick and complete recovery. I'd love to meet up with you in the new year!

  4. Oh so sorry to hear about your fall. Broken toes can be extremely painful and there is nothing much they can do for them. So glad that Pearlie is okay. Why didn't your company clean up the dishes for you so you could put your foot up? You probably didn't want them to know how much pain you were in. Please take care of yourself and I hope that you heal quickly.
    Have a Very Merry Christmas.

  5. Hope your recovery is a quick one. As long as you have a little something to cheer you and light up, don't worry! It's not about the decorations. You sound like you have everything under control!
Keep you feet up and relax!

  9. I'm so glad you are doing better, Barbara. You're a trooper fro soldiering on Thanksgiving Day and you're very resourceful in getting everything else done.

I get my pictures on to my laptop from phone by emailing them to myself from my phone. I then open them on my laptop email and download them. Hope that helps.

Hope you get all of your things done. I like Ina Garten of The Food Network quite a lot and she advises you can make cookie dough ahead and freeze that until you're ready to bake. I plan to do that tomorrow.

    XO,
    JAne

  10. I am so sorry to hear about your fall, Barbara Oh, what terrible timing for such a thing to happen right before company was coming. As you say, thank goodness it did not require a trip to the ER and little Pearlie was okay too.
I broke one toe earlier this year and still remember how painful it was when it happened.
You take care of yourself now.
    Hugs being sent your way.

  12. Barbara, that was a harrowing day! It takes so long to get back to normal after something like that! Glad that you have kept right on keeping on the best you can...Pearlie, too. If your header is any indication of your decor, things are looking mighty fine! Wish that I could help with the tech stuff! Does your fairy blog mother have any idea?

  13. Oh, Barbara - I am so sorry that you were hurt! I know you are so relieved that your sweet baby was O.K., though. I do love online shopping and do more each year. I really cut back on decorations this year, but I think you have done more than I and I am not injured! I hope you feel better soon and can really enjoy Christmas.

  17. Barbara,
I can't believe you still pulled off a dinner after your injuries! WOW, I call that professional. Like you, my first concern would be the bird. I'm so glad Pearlie is ok, I know that would hurt you so much more. I have just fallen off the blog map, but I still keep track of you and others. God Bless.

  18. I am so glad that you and your sweet bird, Pearlie, are okay, Barbara. We, as women, even though hurt on Thanksgiving, just keep going. You're a trooper and I know you've had a set back, but you've accomplished so much. I wish I could help you with your smartphone to iPad question, but I'm sorry, I can't. I'm sure there's someone out there with the answer. Kept those pretty little toes healing and Merry Christmas! xxoo

  20. Oh, wow...I feel your pain! Ouch! I know that had to be as shocking as it was painful!!! I'm glad your pet fared well in this. That could have turned out a totally different way. :-(

I'm glad you've been able to do a bit of decorating to lift your spirits, and the baking will finish the job! Nothing like the smell of freshly baked goods to make you happy!!!

Best wishes for quick continued healing and the best Christmas ever. You deserve it after what you and Pearlie went through on Thanksgiving!!!

  26. Barbara I am so very sorry that you were injured. I hurt just reading about it. Please take care of yourself instead of worrying about getting things done for Christmas. You are a brave lady to not go to the ER.

I don't have a smart phone, but the way I get pictures from my phone to my laptop is I email them to myself. Then I download them from my email onto my computer. Maybe this will work for you.

  38. I saw a note from you, and I had to come over and say hello, even though I know/knew you were still out of "blogging commission". I'm so glad the fall wasn't even worse, but still hate the whole thing.

I hope the past two weeks have been restful but still festive for you and I hope to see an update soon.

As for missing blogging? Well, what I discovered is that though my house is pretty near spotless these days because of the time I have/had to spend on it in the past few months, but I'm just plain jollier when I am visiting blogs and even at least trying to write something of my own periodically. I like the people who live in my little computer. (Well, most of them. I just need to learn to give selective attention toward those folks.)

Trying to find my way back in 2014. I hope you'll be here!
